Value-Adding Features
Additionally to the rich set of functions, EDS implements many
value-adding features, among others:
- Parameterized multi-dimension product description system. The system
enables, in the Distribution System Product Database, to describe products
in a very flexible and comprehensive way. Among others, each individual
product item can be associated with a customizable set of features like
version, size, grade, color, etc. It allows also describing a product as being
a part of a set of products, or being made form other products. EDS can be
used for handling of very specific commodities, like food - with limited time
of usage, chemicals - where information on a production batch is important,
products with serial numbers, products in returnable package, etc. Another
important benefit of EDS is its ability to perform various sophisticated
analyses based on product specific features - from stock, turnover, sales
profitability and market demand perspectives.
- Improved stock management. Using the built-in parameterized algorithms,
EDS monitors and controls continuously the stock levels. In case of particular
stores, distribution centers and retail outlets, EDS automatically initiates
the product replenishment procedures, when the current stock level becomes
too low, issuing internal orders to higher-level warehouse facilities to
initiate instant delivery of needed products. System enables reservation of
products being in stock to be picked later. Information on the dispatched
products being "on their way" is instantly shared (via Internet) with the
destination facilities. Time and labor-consuming warehouse operations, like
product receipts, picks, counts, forwarding, etc., are automated due to usage
of scanners and bar code logistic labels identifying products and their
warehouse lots. EDS supports management of the modern high-stack warehouse
installations.
- Effective management of long-term multi-shipment and multi-payment
contracts with suppliers and recipients (customers).
- Integration with Internet-accessible systems of shipping/courier
companies, allowing tracking the entire shipment process, still using our
system and all existing data relationships.
- Usage of customers product nomenclature/symbol systems.
- Usage of differentiated prices and discounts for particular
customers.
- Management of quality control operations regarding the purchased
products.
- Automatic notifying of EDS users about special events, using the built-in
internal email system.
- Early warning of unreliable customers, using the built-in centralized
client credibility alert system.
